Delhi : A meeting of newly elected 46 members from different wards has been called by the Delhi Government’s Director Gurdwara Elections for Co-option of 9 members of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) for 9th September 2021. While giving details in this matter, Mr. Inder Mohan Singh, Expert in Delhi Gurdwara Election Affairs said that in this meeting one Head Priest each from Sri Akal Takhat Sahib Sri Amritsar, Takhat Sri Kesgarh Sahib Sri Anandpur Sahib, Takhat Sri Patna Sahib and Takhat Sri Hazur Sahib Nanded, one nominee of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) Sri Amritsar Sahib,  two Presidents out of about 300 Registered Singh Sabha Gurdwaras in Delhi and two representatives of Sikh Community in Delhi by the voting of newly elected 46 members will also be Co-opted.  He said that Notification has been issued for election of these two representatives of Sikh Community according to which nomination papers can be filed before the Director Gurdwara Elections upto 4th September, Scrutiny on 6th September and withdrawal of candidature upto 8th September 2021 has been fixed. Mr. Inder Mohan Singh said that as per Gurdwara Act and rules one candidate can file upto a maximum of 4 nomination papers but each nomination must be proposed by a newly elected member of DSGMC.  He said that although a minimum of 16 votes will be required to win a seat but this number can be decreased in the event of absence of some members in this meeting. Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that these elections are conducted on the pattern of Rajya Sabha elections in which one member can vote more than once for more than one member as per his choice, whereas counting is done as per Election Commission of India’s quota system.  He said that the entire Gurdwara election process will be completed after election of the Executive Board of the DSGMC by end of September 2021
