- SGPC TO NOMINATE NEW MEMBER INSTEAD OF SIRSA
Delhi : The vacation of stay earlier imposed by the Hon’ble Delhi High Court paved way for constitution of the new Executive Board of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC). While giving details on this issue, Mr. Inder Mohan Singh, Expert in Delhi Gurdwara Affairs said that while disposing the writ petition jointly filed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and the outgoing DSGMC President Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Justice Prateek Jalan of the Hon’ble Delhi High Court vacated stay thereby paving way for the Delhi Government’s Director Gurdwara Elections to complete the left-over Co-option process and conduct of election of the DSGMC’s Executive Board.
Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that the petitioners filed the instant petition against the Orders of the Director Gurdwara Election in which Mr Sirsa was declared disqualified by him to be Co-opted as a nominee of the SGPC because having no knowledge of Gurmukhi language though the Court has not made any remarks on the Orders of the Director. Mr Singh said that the nominee of SGPC and one President of Singh Sabhas of Delhi by draw of lot are yet to be co-opted in the left-over Co-option process. While citing Gurdwara Act, he said that though the Act provides for a maximum of one month time to complete the process of Co-option and election of the new Executive Board, but the government may take lesser time to complete this entire process to put a stop on the ongoing day to day controversies about functioning of the Committee.
